Jack Taylor's Alexandria Toyota Provides Support Vehicle To Retired Marine Running Across U.S. Raising Money for Veterans

Retired Marine Sergeant is running for 3,600 miles across the U.S.to raise money for our troops, and his support staff will be using a truck provided by Washington D.C. Metro area Toyota dealership.

ALEXANDRIA, Va.?November 19, 2012 ? Jack Taylor's Alexandria Toyota will be providing a Toyota Tundra pickup truck to retired Marine Sergeant Brendan O'Toole and his support staff for his cross-country Run For Veterans. Sgt. O'Toole started his 3,600-mile journey on Veterans Day, which aims to raise $2 million to support U.S. Armed Forces veterans, combat veterans and disabled veterans, as well as their families.

Sgt. O'Toole will average 15 miles per day starting in Oceanside, Calif. through Washington D.C. to Portland, Maine. If the premise sounds familiar, he was inspired by the scene in the movie "Forrest Gump" in which Tom Hanks' character traveled across the country.

His support staff, led by Marine veteran Corporal Kelly Foy, will travel with O'Toole across the country using the Tundra provided by Alexandria Toyota. The Tundra is also wrapped in a theme inspired by Marine fatigues with various military decals, including an American flag and a POW/MIA flag to honor prisoners of war and those missing in action.

According to the run's website, "the Run for Veterans will engage local communities, collaborate with existing organizations and work with local veteran non-profit groups to connect civilian and military personnel." The run invites anyone to run alongside Sgt. O'Toole throughout his journey to show support for our servicemen and women.

Jack Taylor's Alexandria Toyota Continues to Raise Awareness, Funds for Parkinson's Research Through Various Avenues

Washington D.C. Metro area Toyota dealership, which is providing support to a number of Parkinson's disease causes, will donate money to local Parkinson's charity with social media initiative in November.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (November 15, 2012) ? Jack Taylor's Alexandria Toyota continues its support of great causes by participating in various avenues to raise money and awareness for Parkinson's disease, including a fundraiser and a recent walk. Throughout the month of November, the dealership will also donate $25 to the Parkinson Foundation of the National Capital Area (PFNCA) for every Like its page receives on Facebook.

Jack Taylor's annual fundraiser for Parkinson's raised $47,900 late last month.  The funds raised were donated to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's research. Alexandria Toyota was also on hand to support the recent Moving Day Washington D.C. walk on Nov. 4, which aims to raise awareness for Parkinson's disease. The two-mile walk had over 2,000 participants, including people with Parkinson's, families, friends, healthcare professionals, corporate leaders and corporate teams.

Alexandria Toyota also showcased an all-new redesigned 2013 Scion FR-S sports car near the start of the walk by the center field gate at Nationals Parks. The FR-S was wrapped in a sporty design inspired by the colors and logo of the Michael J. Fox Foundation. It also featured decals, like those on a racecar, with the logos of the event's organizers, the National Parkinson's Foundation and the PFNCA. The event raised almost $300,000.

Also in October, Alexandria Toyota raised $14,580 toward the annual Alexandria Walk to Fight Breast Cancer, which raises money for mammograms and diagnostic testing to uninsured and underinsured women. Alexandria Toyota was the event's only Pink Ribbon sponsor, which is the highest sponsor level for the event.
